We’re hiring a Designer/Developer!

We’re hiring a Designer/Developer to join metaLAB’s core team in developing projects such as Knight News Challenge winner Zeega. Zeega is an open-source HTML5 platform for creating interactive documentaries and inventing new forms of storytelling. Zeega will make it easy to collaboratively produce, curate and publish participatory multimedia projects on web, tablet and mobile devices.

metaLAB(at)Harvard is an experimental research unit at the Berkman Center for Internet and Society dedicated to charting innovative scenarios for the future of knowledge creation and dissemination in the arts, media and humanities.

We are looking for a designer/developer to further develop metaLAB’s growing portfolio of web/mobile platforms, especially Knight News Challenge winner Zeega, extraMUROS and the Zeega mixed-reality toolkit (a combination of browser-based mobile/tablet apps, Kinect hacks and other experiments in physical computing/installation).

Ideal candidates love solving the challenge of inventing new means of navigating vast data sets of multiple media types; feel comfortable building on existing open-source code; and have the ability to think from client to server-side. You love JavaScript, and have a passion for bringing HTML5/JS-intensive user interfaces to life. Familiarity with digital storytelling, HTML5 audio/video, archive work or infoviz is helpful but not essential. Pay is commensurate with experience and time commitment.
